Toyota World Challenge Hiking, very tough, 4 days

The beautiful Lake District plays host to the 20 Peaks Challenge, the aim is simple; to climb 20 peaks each over 2400ft in height within 24 hours total walking time

Over two days climbers will ascend over 11,000ft as they attempt to reach the heights of the Lakes, covering 20 miles of walking and summiting on renowned mountains such as Scafell Pike, Bow Fell and Helvellyn.

Day 1 of the challenge begins at Seathwaite Farm where you will begin a long day's walking of approximately miles 10 and climbing 6 hills. Starting at the 'wettest' place in England you will start with a flat section to loosen off your legs before crossing Stockley Bridge where you will then set your sights on the summit of your first mountain; Lingmell. After Lingmell it is a short hop to the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike where you will be able to take in some spectacular views. Reaching the top of Scafell Pike is an achievement in itself, but you will be carrying on where you will summit on Broad Crag, Great End, Esk Pike and finishing with Bow Fell for the day. It is estimated that this will take you between 8 - 11 hours of walking to complete. By the end of the day you will have made new found friends and will have plenty to talk about over a warm and hearty meal.

After a well deserved sleep it's an early rise for the second day which is just as challenging as the first day, if not slightly more difficult Today you will summit on 14 of the remaining mountains over a 10 mile distance. Starting at Kirkstone Pass not too far from Ambleside you will begin your ascent of Red Screes before tackling Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, Seat Sandal, Dollywagon Pike, Nethermost Pike, Helvellyn, Lower Man, Whiteside Raise, Stybarrow Dodd, Watson Dodd and finally Great Dodd!

Completing the 20 Peaks will leave you with a deep sense of achievement and satisfaction. Climbers will have mountains of stories to tell, firm friends and incredible memories whilst helping a charity close to their heart. The evening ahead is saved for a long hot shower and a celebration meal to regale in the tales of the challenge!
