The Hadrian’s Wall Trek gives you a unique opportunity to challenge yourself and take in the history of the region over a challenging few days of walking. Hadrian’s Wall is a defensive wall that covers 73 miles from coast to coast in the North of England to keep the Pict’s from Caledonia out. The cultural and historical significance of Hadrian’s Wall has been secured with its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the height of Roman occupation, there were 30 forts along the frontier of which 16 are actually on the wall. Of course time has taken its toll and only sections of the wall are still remaining. Your Hadrian’s Wall Trek will cover a distance of 25 miles during two days over undulating ground along some of the most interesting sections of the wall. On the first day the walk will begin at Lanercost Priory and conclude at Haltwhistle having passed through picturesque villages, explored Birdoswald Roman Fort and seen many other breathtaking views. Day 2 and the challenge will continue from Haltwhistle passing through Wark forest and onto the barren landscape of North Northumberland before completing your challenge at Broccolitia Hadrian’s Wall Trek is perfect if you are looking for an enjoyable, interesting and challenging weekend’s walk. You may even want to make use of this as a training walk for a bigger challenge that you have in mind or how about a reunion with old friends in a stunning part of the country?
